Septic SystemsREGISTERED ONSITE WASTEWATER PRACTITIONERS
& WASTEWATER SYSTEMS The soil is a packed-bed aerobic biofilter in that billions of bacteria biodegrade organic carbon and nitrogen forming harmless gases that are released into the atmosphere. In a properly designed wastewater treatment system, this is a stable, sustainable process. As of May 31st, 2005 the Health Act’s new Sewerage System Regulation came into effect. This new regulation requires that persons doing the planning, installation and maintenance of systems meet training and educational requirements as determined by the B.C. On Site Sewage Association (BCOSSA) and the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC (ASTTBC). Dennis Hughes is registered as a Certified Planner, Installer & Maintenance Provider and we employ the services of a CTech ROWP for more complicated systems. The ROWP certification requires knowledge of the historical, theoretical, practical and legal aspects of onsite wastewater treatment and dispersal. In addition, an in-depth knowledge of various sources of identification of soil availability for onsite wastewater treatment, site constraints and the effects of these limitations on the choice of design for each system is necessary. These approaches focus on recognizing slight to very severe constraints in the soil texture and structure, water table fluctuations and other site characteristics. Hughes Contracting supports the professional practice of onsite system design. We are able to correctly identify the needs for treatment and disposal, the role of appropriate technologies, wastewater flows and strength, process selection, sizing pumps, design of lagoons, Type 1 gravity systems, Type 2 aerobic pressure distribution systems and Type 3 treatment plants. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require an estimate or quote on the planning, installation or maintenance of your residential or commercial septic/wastewater system. |
